National
Foundation for Democracy and Human Rights in Uganda (NAFODU) promotes
and strengthens democracy, human rights and good governance through
election monitoring, lobbying and advocacy, civic education, training,
information dissemination and conflict resolution.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of National Foundation for Democracy and Human Rights in
Uganda (NAFODU) is to promote and strengthen democracy, human rights
and good governance through election monitoring, lobbying and advocacy,
civic education, training, information dissemination and conflict
resolution.
OBJECTIVES
Strategic objectives
- To strengthen and consolidate
instruments, institutions and operation of democracy in Uganda
- To consolidate the respect and
observance of human rights and tenets of good governance in Uganda
Operational objectives
- To monitor all presidential,
parliamentary and local government elections in Uganda
- To advocate and lobby through
research and documentation on a regular basis the review of laws
pertaining to good governance
- To promote and protect human rights
in Uganda
- To promote a culture of civic
responsibility of both leaders and citizens at all levels of society
- To strengthen the multiparty system
in Uganda
- To advocate, lobby and speak out on
issues that threaten the practice and realization of basic rights
- To change people’s attitudes and
emotions that often fuel political tensions and reduce electoral
disputes and political violence
Uganda's future
needs a society in which fundamental human rights and freedoms are
respected
